Web Analytics Data Retention

Filed in Analytics 1 comments

For all of our clients and partners we wanted to make you aware, if you did not already know, that Yahoo Web Analytics have revised their data retention policies.

The Yahoo Web Analytics Team has recently made an announcement about their data retention policy, stating that data collected for each active project will be now be retained for 36 months. After June 1st 2011, any data that is older than 36 months will be removed. This is in line with their constant streamlining which allows them to optimize performance and capacity.

In reference to Google Analytics, it is thought that they have reduced data retention to 18 months. However there is no official line on this, but we estimate their policy to be circa 18-24 months.

It is therefore worth bearing in mind that if you wish to keep your website data past these times, it is advisable to export the data as a PDF or CSV or any other format among the available formats.

Thanks, Network Intellect Analytics Team
