User Reviews in Google Adwords Ad Text

Google are introducing yet another feature to their Adwords program in the form of consumer reviews and product ratings. Adwords ad’s for specific products will display a short link directly below the ad copy stating, for example, Fountain Pen is rated 4.4 stars / 5. By clicking on the ratings link, the user will then be taken through to a page with full product reviews.

Bazaarvoice, who provide user review systems, have helped Google implement this new feature but advertisers may be cautious in adopting reviews under their Adwords ad text simply because a few unfavourable reviews may off-put a number of interested parties. On the other hand, by including reviews under their ads, their messages may stand out more and appear more dynamic leading to users clicking through with greater regularity.

Google is always looking to improve the service it provides to its chief stakeholder, its searchers. By continuing to provide more information in the results pages of searches, Google are no doubt attempting to stave off growing competition from MSN Bing.
