- Don’t bore your followers with ‘marketing speak’, put some personality into your tweets in order to get the attention of your audience. Use humour as a way of enhancing your followers’ perception of your brand.
- Think about having a standard Twitter account with all the usual news and promotions, but also having a separate account for a something related to your brand. For example, if you were in charge of the KFC twitter account you could have one for KFC and one from the Colonel!
- Ensure that your followers feel connected and special by giving them access to exclusive information and content. You could do this by posting inside information, behind-the-scenes gossip and news on special events.
- Use Twitter to target a subset of your audience. This can enable you to find prospects that match the kind of customer you would like to attract. Once you have located them, send them private special offers to get yourself new business.
- You’ve succeeded when your followers transform from listeners to talkers about your brand. It’s important that you just tweet to your followers, you should embrace them by bragging about them and celebrating them both on and outside of Twitter.
- When your followers promote your brands, treat them! Reward these followers with discounts or points for tweeting positively about you and your brand.
