Targeting Competitors’ Employees On LinkedIn

Filed in Social Media , Top Tips 0 comments

LinkedIn Direct Ads were for a time not performing as well as they could be. As such LinkedIn decided to create some new features that people have been waiting a long time for. The social media site gave people the option of targeting users by specific companies and highly focused job titles from within certain industries.

With this in mind, here are some steps towards targeting competitors’ employees through job titles, places of employment, geographic location etc.

You should begin by logging into your LinkedIn account and heading to Direct Ads. Give your campaign a name, decide on a destination URL, produce the first ad and as many different variations as you choose.

Begin targeting, by choosing a location. You can then use LinkedIn’s suggested job titles in order to come up with many different job titles. In order to become more competitive with your targeting, try doing a Google search for companies in order to get some good ideas from the firms that show up in the first few pages of Google SERPs.

LinkedIn Groups is another powerful targeting option, so try and be creative.

Do not worry that the campaign may be moving slowly as a result of the relatively small amount of LinkedIn users it will be reaching, because at the same time, exactly the right demographics are being targeted.

Remember also, that if you bid high enough, your competitors’ employees will literally see your ad the next time they visit LinkedIn.
