Social is at centre of PPC and SEO campaigns this year. According to US advertisers, 2011 is definitely the year of the social.
Search marketers have realized how social media marketing can assist them in building their search engine optimization. Survey findings from last year revealed that respondents found their top priority for SEO for 2011 was integration with social media programs.
Social media plays an important part in paid search efforts. Nearly 50% of advertisers who were surveyed said that campaigns on social media sites such as Facebook and LinkedIn were at the top of their mind. This is far ahead of the priorities such as local search or dealing with the recent search engine changes like the Yahoo-Bing integration.
In addition, last year’s report findings showed vast spending increases planned on Facebook search advertising for 2011. It was predicted that a large number of advertisers would be spending 10 to 20% of their pay-per-click budgets on Facebook this year, therefore giving the social media site a very large share of that market.
Further findings showed that rather than drawing money away from other paid search spending areas, these would be additions to the search budget coming from offline or display budgets instead.
