Following on from recent posts on advancements in the mobile shopping and price comparison market (see More Help for Mobile Shoppers and On-the-Go Comparison Shopping), Network Intellect can reveal that Sccoope (www.sccoope.com) is launching a price comparison and barcode-scanning app for both iPhone and Blackberry mobile devices.

The tool allows users to simply take a photo of the barcode of the product that they would like to price-check or they can enter the name of a product in the search field. Sccoope then shows the best priced matches to the product which has been searched, allowing the user to navigate to the retailer’s page and make the purchase there and then, or alternatively, add the product to their wish-list which they can use to keep an eye on any further special offers.

This is yet another significant advancement in the mobile shopping market. As Douglas Orr, CEO of Sccoope puts it: “We are committed to making sure our users get the very best prices on their purchases and to helping retailers build a lucrative mobile sales channel.” Indeed, the mobile sales channel is seen as being so lucrative now and so important to get started in because it is still in a stage of development. If retailers can get ahead of their competitors by making the most of these developments, it will certainly stand them in good stead and provide an extra avenue for generating revenue.
