Scandit Barcode Scanning App Released on the iPhone

Filed in Data Feeds , Price Comparison Sites , SEM 0 comments

A free social shopping app has been launched on the iPhone, which uses barcode scanning technology to find the best prices on the web. Scandit incorporates barcode scanning, price comparison and social media sharing to enable users to firstly scan the barcode of the product that they would like more information on, read reviews, find prices from different retailers, make purchases and finally share all of this information with their friends on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

The most impressive feature of this particular app is the speed with which it provides the information relevant to the product once the barcode has been scanned. It is yet another breakthrough in the on-the-go price comparison shopping market, with savvy shoppers comparing prices whilst physically in-store. The barcode can be scanned even when it is not positioned correctly. The barcode scanning technology produced by Mirasense is evidently more effective than that of RedLaser which had previously been touted as the best barcode scanning app for the iPhone.

Only time will tell if the app will catch on. It is still early days and there are bound to be issues arising with its usability, reliability and depth of service but Network Intellect recommend that as it is a free app, it should definitely be given a trial-go. Who knows, you may soon wonder how you shopped without it!
