With more and more of our clients enquiring about the likes of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, we thought it might be beneficial to share our thoughts on the best practices to undertake when marketing with Social Media. It’s vital that a solid, well structured Social Media marketing plan is developed in order to give companies pursuing these avenues every chance of success. Network Intellect have generated an effective check-list which should be considered before investing any significant time and money on Social Media marketing avenues:
1) Understand Your Market, Identify Your Goals and Create a Strategy
- Think about how your Social Media goals can coincide with your core business and marketing objectives.
- Find out how users interact with Social Media and use third party research to monitor the most effective tactics and strategies.
- Determine which Social Networks to target and focus on those which are most likely to be successful.
2) Align Social Media with Key Marketing Channels
- Understand that Social Media is not about replacing other marketing channels, but integrating with them and enabling all channels to work together.
3) Create Content that Connects and Engages Your Market
- Keep an eye on key communities, competitors, influencers and related topics and keywords on the social networks.
- Produce content that is share-worthy, entices comments and starts conversations.
-The more you interact with users, the better your content will engage customers and prospects.
- DON’T use corporate/PR speak as this reduces the human feel nature which makes social media so absorbing.
4) Identify and Enable Influencers and Fans
- It’s important to understand that Social Media is usually at its’ best when it’s C2C, not B2B.
- Encourage your users to promote your content, but at the same time, don’t overwhelm them with requests otherwise they may end up leaving your groups.
- Build goodwill among brand ambassadors and reach out to influencers as well as fans.
5) Monitor Social Activity
- Adopt Social Media Analytics. Key Performance metrics should be tracked including traffic growth referred by social networks, content sharing activity and interaction and engagement with social features.
- Measure a wide range of data and learn/improve from the results.
