In 2009 MSN and Yahoo struck a 10 year Search Alliance Deal.
In essence the deal is that overtime MSN will power the Organic and Paid results of Yahoo.
As we know in the search arena, it starts primarily in the USA and then migrates across the globe.
Well MSN Bing NOW powers the Organic search results of Yahoo in the UK. The back-end change began on 3rd August and Bing powers Yahoo in 17 countries, including in Europe UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
As such it is important that you compare organic results on Yahoo and Bing for important keywords that drive search traffic and sales, and modify where necessary. Also website owners should review Bing Webmaster Tools and optimise for the Bing crawler so they appear in both Yahoo and Bing’s SERPs (search engine results pages).
In the UK, MSN Bing and Yahoo combined only account for circa 6 percent of searches; whilst Google dominates with circa 92 percent of searches, according to Hitwise data.
The transition from Yahoo to Bing started in August 2010 in the USA and Canada.
Then in January it was Australia, Brazil, and Mexico
And on 22nd July it was New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela
