Facebook Places Rolls Out in the UK

Facebook Places, the social network’s new location-based service, has officially been released in the UK.

Facebook Places allows users to effectively ‘check-in’ at real-life locations. Facebook currently doesn’t allow paid ads with Places, but they did confirm that additional opportunities would be developed through apps using the Facebook API.

The service rolled out in the US last month shows how brands can create their own ‘Place’ such as a retail shop in Regents Park with the aim of increasing engagement with Facebook users. Insiders believe that the scope for success is down to the increasing number of Facebook users accessing their profiles on-the-go via their mobile devices.

This is a service that Network Intellect can now offer to all of our UK based clients.
