The Effects The New Facebook Newsfeed Has On Your Business

Filed in Industry Metrics , Social Media 0 comments

Facebook has once again made changes and introduced various new profile features. These changes are altering the way the social network works forever. With this in mind, you need to consider how these changes are going to affect you with regards to how you market your company on the social media platform in the future.

The social media giant has angered many people across the net, due to its further changes. However, when you start to think of Facebook as a business that is attempting to compete in the very popular market, the requirement for these changes may become more apparent. With the pressure of social media competitors such as Twitter and Google+ around, Facebook is aware that theses changes are necessary.

Facebook acknowledges that while the changes will be a nuisance to users, they are likely to adjust eventually and begin to appreciate the updates as they have with previous changes.

Where the old Facebook profile used to have ‘top stories’ and ‘most recent’, in their place are ‘recent stories’ and a real-time feed on the right hand side of the profile, which constantly displays all of your friends content.  This real-time feed enables businesses to be seen more easily. This however means that several businesses will start posting more frequently to get better results. It is wise to try and stick to a more traditional regime of posting and keep an eye out for when your fans are on Facebook most frequently, in order to catch them.

Another good feature is the recommended pages app that displays on your fan page. This change means that instead of having to find pages to like, Facebook will recommend pages to you that relate to your past interests and exchanges.

There is also a new ‘subscribe’ button as mentioned in a previous post, that allows you to choose what you wish to see from other users in your newsfeed. It also allows you to subscribe to personal pages without needing to be a Facebook friend of that particular person.

With reports showing that 70% of all Facebook users hate the changes, it is likely that some initial fans may move over to Google+, but it is likely that Facebook will still keep its title of being the world’s largest and most popular social network.
