Those of you with and keen eye and have preformed a search on Google lately may have noticed a few small changes. Since 2000 Google’s ads have always been titled “Sponsored Links” but in all English language domains this will be now titled “Ads”.
You will also see in the image there is a blue arrow next to the Top ad. This arrow indicates a new keyboard navigation system for Google Instant SERPs. The new keyboard navigation system allows user to scroll through search results with the keyboard arrow keys and the return key works as a click for the selected search results.
It would be interesting to hear your views, thoughts and experiences with these changes. Are they simply cosmetic? Will they change click through rates? Are they differentiating themselves from other ad platforms? Or are they simply putting more focus on paid search listings?
