5 Tips Not To Do On Twitter

Filed in Social Media , Top Tips 3 comments

1. Hiring People To Tweet On Your Behalf

There are a lot of people on twitter who hire people to tweet for them, naming no Celeb’s. Avid twitter users who use twitter on a daily basis will know if you’re tweeting yourself or if multiple people are tweeting for you. For a perosnal account this can make you look like you’re not interested in your followers, so be careful.

For some businesses it is not possible to have a dedicated tweeter, so consider a clear brief, guidelines and even a moderator, so as to establish a common theme for your tweets.

2. Tweeting Spam Marketing Messages

Marketing companies will always use the latest technologies to try and sell you something, but using twitter to spam people or ram your product down their mouths is not good marketing ethics. Twitter was designed for people to communicate with each other and share; so only promote relevant messages to your following audience.

3. Having A Standard Page / No Avatar

Being a twitter user you should make some effort to change your twitter background and avatar, and fill in the about section of your twitter page. Experienced users look upon users who don’t or haven’t changed their twitter pages as Noob’s (slang term for a novice or newcomer) and this can make it hard for you to gain genuine followers. So style your twitter page as this lets genuine twitter users know who they are communicating with.

4. Never Responding

Communication is a two-way process. If you use twitter and someone asks you a question and you don’t respond it makes you look ignorant. Make sure you engage with your followers and try to answer all their questions.  You will gain a lot more respect from your followers.

5. Count Bumping

Noob’s usually get wrapped up in trying to gain follower counts and then bump the users once they have decided to follow them. Instead use twitter to communicate with your users and your followers count will increase naturally.

Where possible use the above tips and this will make you a better twitter user and experience for your followers. If you have any points to add we would love to hear from you, so feel free to contact us at Network Intellect.

I’ve been surfing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. In my view, if all web owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.
