5 Tips For Successful LinkedIn Ads

Filed in Network Intellect , Social Media , Top Tips 0 comments

When creating an ad strategy for LinkedIn you need to consider your targeting method. You must know the various locations of your desired LinkedIn audience and the reasons they are on the network.

It is important to establish how you are going to gain higher click-through and conversion rates on the social networking site. With this in mind, here are some tips to help you on your way:

1. Target The Right Audience

You need to ensure you are targeting the appropriate audience. You can create some amazing ads, but if the wrong people are seeing them, you are not doing yourself any favours.

2. Create Specific And Direct Ads

LinkedIn ads are shorter than Facebook ads so you have less space to be entertaining and catching in your ad, etc. Ads need to be relevant to the target audience. They need to specifically say how your product or service could be of benefit to the viewer. You should include a strong call-to-action within your ad, which instructs them of what you wish them to do and what they will receive in return.

3. Avoid Pushing For The Hard Sale

The majority of users on LinkedIn are not in a buying frame-of-mind. You need to therefore focus on a more gentle conversion action that requires less commitment from them.

Free trials and eBooks etc. tend to work well on LinkedIn. Ecommerce conversion actions can work at times, but they are trickier.

4. Crop And Zoom Your Ad Images

The images included within LinkedIn ads are 50×50 pixels, which is fairly small. You need to crop and zoom your images as closely as you can, in order to make them easy to comprehend quickly.

5. Adhere To Editorial Guidelines

It is important that you follow LinkedIn’s editorial guidelines. Make sure all your ads stay above-board and do not push the editorial edge too far. Familiarise yourself with them. Some examples of the high-level guidelines to adhere to include:

  • Don’t deceive or lie in your ad.
  • Don’t use inappropriate or unacceptable language in your ad.
  • Don’t use trademarks that you aren’t permitted to use.
  • Don’t use LinkedIn in your ad.

If you make use of these tips and pay attention to the guidelines, you will be well on the way to creating a successful LinkedIn advertising campaign.
