Google has announced the launch of Google+ Pages, which are designed specifically for businesses on Google+.
When you consider the size of the network, at over 40 million members, Google+ should be seriously considered in terms of your marketing campaigns. It is a good idea to set up your Google+ Page as quickly as you can. It is a relatively simple process, and here are five steps to help you on your way:
1. Choose A Gmail Account That Is Accessible
You should avoid creating your business page through just any account, e.g. a personal gmail account. Instead choose a gmail account that will be accessible to various members of your marketing team and then use that account to create your page. You should choose a host account that makes your page as accessible to as many multiple contributors as possible.
2. Create A Page With The Desired Account
Google has an option to help you create a Google+ Page. Follow the steps provided and choose the most suitable option for the classification of your business. The site will offer you options such as Product or Brand, Local Business or Place etc.
Once you have chosen your relevant classification, fill in your basic information, including your page name, your business’ website URL, your category, and the classification of your page’s content (i.e. just for 18 years of age or older, etc.)
3. Customise Your Public Profile
You will now need to customise your public profile. The basics include your tagline and an image. For choice of image, your company logo is a very good option.
4. Promote Your Page
You will now have created the main foundations of your page. Google+ will now encourage you to promote your page. It is wise to customise your page further and begin to share a few updates before you tell everyone about it. If you were to promote a blank page it would not be the best way to convince people that your Page is somewhere of value for them to add to their Circles.
You should therefore invest some time in optimising your page and sharing just a handful of links to valuable content before you promote your page to a vast number of people.
5. Get Engaging!
You have now done the basic work you need in order to get your page launched. However, the basics are not usually enough. Optimising your page is vital to make it more effective and engaging. It is important to bear in mind that Google+ is a social network, so it is advisable to regularly respond with people and share fresh content etc. in order to generate leads.
You also need to measure your efforts and adapt your strategy in accordance with the metrics in order to help reach your individual goals.
