5 Mistakes To Avoid With Google+ Pages

As business owners and marketers are becoming more at ease with using Google+ in their social media strategy, it is an important time to begin thinking about some of the details connected with managing a Google+ business page.

Taking this into consideration, if you are thinking about setting up a Google+ page soon, or are already using them, consider some of the mistakes that several people are making but yet are relatively simple to sort out:

1. Not Posting On A Consistent Basis

Several marketers tend to get very busy and where they were once posting a few times a week, they then started posting a couple of times then leaving it for a couple of weeks and posting again etc.  This inconsistency confuses followers and stops you building up any momentum.

If you are serious about using Google+ business pages for your marketing campaign, due to them being fairly new, you need to allow yourself more time to dedicate to publishing new content consistently.

2. Vague Personal Taglines

The personal tagline should briefly and clearly describe who you are. This is especially of importance when it comes to helping followers avoid confusion if you are a popular brand or company which has a popular name that many other businesses may have.

3.  Poor Use Of Photos

Google+ business pages are a great platform for sharing photos. You should firstly provide a mix of text and photo updates. You should also be sure that you have uploaded a profile picture that relates to your company, otherwise visitors won’t be sure they’ve reached the correct business page. Also avoid posting pictures that are boring.

4.  Not Using Recommended Links

Recommended links can be found on the ‘About’ section of a Google+ business page. It lets you drive traffic to your website and produce leads from landing pages. Google+ business pages also provide an area for your website URL. If you do not use these fields you are missing out on good opportunities for your business.

5.  Not Verifying Your Page With Google+

One big benefit of verifying your page with Google+ is it helps you to establish a connection between your Google+ page and your website, which helps prevent the possibility that someone will make their own page using your brand name.
