4 Social Media Lessons

Filed in Brand Reputation , Social Media , Top Tips 0 comments

There are some important lessons for businesses who engage in social media to take on board. With this in mind, here are some proactive steps you can take to ensure that you don’t get caught out.

1. Think Carefully Before Each Social Media Post

It is important to remember that a quick and impulsive social media post will stay on the Internet forever. You should therefore make sure you do not let your response go live without giving it some thought. Consider what your clients etc. would say if they saw the posting.

2. Understand Social Responsibility

Whether you are representing yourself or a business, you must remember that there are real people with real feelings who are reading your content and interacting with it.

3. Do Not Intentionally Mislead People

The truth has a way of coming out in the end so honesty in the beginning is best policy. Remember that the public knows a lot from speaking to each other etc, so lying is not the best idea.

4. Do Not Cover Up issues That Go Public

If a personal or corporate issue arises about you, do not attempt to cover it up. It is better to admit the problem and make a short statement on the matter. The sooner you confess the issue the faster the conversation about it is likely to die down.

If you would like any help with maximizing the effectiveness of your social presence, then why not give us a call and have a discussion with one of our digital strategists.
